Summary

34 hours, 14 minutes

In the seventh installment in the Strike series, Cormoran and Robin must rescue a man ensnared in the trap of a dangerous cult。

Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside。

The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organization that campaigns for a better world。 Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths。

In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner, Robin Ellacott, decides to infiltrate the cult, and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito among its members。 But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her。 。 。

Utterly pulse-pounding, The Running Grave moves Strike's and Robin's story forward in this epic, unforgettable seventh installment of the series。

Such a step up from the last one, finally back into a bit of grit。 Still far too long but。I did love those last couple paragraphs。 We may get progress! Bring on #8。

There are books you can't wait to read, and books you want to put down and then there are books that you don't want to end。 This manages to be all three。 This is book seven in the Strike series and it was worth waiting for。 From the nail-biting tension of Chapman Farm, to the streets of London and the intricacies of staffing a detective agency, not to mention the relationship (will they/won't they) between Robin & Strike, fans will thrilled by this latest installment。 No spoilers here, you have There are books you can't wait to read, and books you want to put down and then there are books that you don't want to end。 This manages to be all three。 This is book seven in the Strike series and it was worth waiting for。 From the nail-biting tension of Chapman Farm, to the streets of London and the intricacies of staffing a detective agency, not to mention the relationship (will they/won't they) between Robin & Strike, fans will thrilled by this latest installment。 No spoilers here, you have to experience it for yourself。 I already want to re-read the whole series。 #RecommendedRead 。。。more

Still pissed with JK so refusing the rate her books and or for them, but damnit I am hooked on this series。 I feel like the ending of this one was weirdly underwhelming。 I also didn’t enjoy how the two mains were separated for so much of it because their conversations are my favourite parts of these books。 I kept feeling like the things that weee happening in this book were far fetched, but then kept remembering how stuff like this has definitely happened, so couldn’t fault it too much。 This one Still pissed with JK so refusing the rate her books and or for them, but damnit I am hooked on this series。 I feel like the ending of this one was weirdly underwhelming。 I also didn’t enjoy how the two mains were separated for so much of it because their conversations are my favourite parts of these books。 I kept feeling like the things that weee happening in this book were far fetched, but then kept remembering how stuff like this has definitely happened, so couldn’t fault it too much。 This one was weirdly more difficult to deal with than the straight up creepy murder-y ones。 All the sexual assault stuff was… a lot。 Was well written with the non-stop tension and build and argh it was so horrible and stressful! But dealing with the constant gross, horrible violation of people and particularly women, and threat of physical, sexual and mental violence was gruelling。 I don’t think the writing or the plot was as good as some of the other books in this series, but there were definitely some really well done elements with pacing and characterisation。 That being said, I did feel like quite a few of the personalities were dynamics that I had read before in this series。 Maybe this is a situation of a series lasting for too long? The writing naturally starts to feel repetitive。 Feels unfair to say, I think it’s kind of inevitable。 I’ve focused on so many negatives, not even negatives, just not great parts。 I do really like this series though, it’s not that this book was bad or anything。 Just hoping to return to the high calibre that it usually is。 I think the pacing of the ending of this maybe really let it down。 I think I was also really hoping that Robin would have the flash of inspiration at the end of this。 She was the one behind basically all of this, Strike was obviously involved, but it felt undeserved that he would be the one to put it all together。 I know it’s the way these books work, but it’s never felt as contrived as it did in this one。 I think that’s because normally Strike is a lot more involved and his reasoning is the one leading us through the books。 Starting to think Robin will either never get to crack a case, or it’ll be left to the last book。 This book is maybe also the most confusing book I’ve read in this series because of the way that so many characters were related or not related or knew each other or didn’t know each other, so it made it harder than her other books to keep track of the names and how people all knew each other。 Mostly though, like I said, the conclusion f this just didn’t feel like it all clicked into place。 Some of the details felt a little bit random, and I know they were technically alluded to in different ways, but it really felt like the story was a little too silly。 In a way where it doesn’t make sense that Strike would have a flash of inspiration that would make him go - of course, this is how it must have happened! 。。。more

900 pages that reads like a great short storyYou'll think as you read it of Scientology but it's far more than that。 If you've read all the Strike novels and watched the TV series based on them then, you know the stories frame the people, especially Strike and Robin, but the "supporting cast" as well。 I read it in 4 days and am sorry it's done。 Begin reading and enjoy。 900 pages that reads like a great short storyYou'll think as you read it of Scientology but it's far more than that。 If you've read all the Strike novels and watched the TV series based on them then, you know the stories frame the people, especially Strike and Robin, but the "supporting cast" as well。 I read it in 4 days and am sorry it's done。 Begin reading and enjoy。 。。。more

3。5 *JK you suck, but I️’m addicted to this series。 I borrowed this audiobook from the library and it was very well narrated, I️ highly recommend the book in that format。 This one was more exciting than most。 There was a weird physical description of the Asian doctor: that he was too tall and handsome to be just Asian, so he had to be mixed race? Also, I️ see people criticizing another low star review for their comments about JK’s women characters but the reviewer is not that far off base。 Take 3。5 *JK you suck, but I️’m addicted to this series。 I borrowed this audiobook from the library and it was very well narrated, I️ highly recommend the book in that format。 This one was more exciting than most。 There was a weird physical description of the Asian doctor: that he was too tall and handsome to be just Asian, so he had to be mixed race? I don’t know why but I always seem to have to read these Cormoran Strike novels by Robert Galbraith。 At 960 pages, it is quite a chore in certain ways。 The storyline is fairly predictable but there are enough twists to keep it interesting。 Glad I’m finished it though!

4。5 stars This one explored the cult religion。I was so petrified while reading it because it is a realistic scenario worldwide, especially in India, where organized religion and practice is becoming more and more prevalent 。Nowadays, the individual identity is being swept aside for mass mentality , and this is a frightening trend。Galbraith has explored it in it's teeniest, scariest detail, as also the different personalities, dependant, dominant and manipulative, associated with such cults。On pe 4。5 stars This one explored the cult religion。I was so petrified while reading it because it is a realistic scenario worldwide, especially in India, where organized religion and practice is becoming more and more prevalent 。Nowadays, the individual identity is being swept aside for mass mentality , and this is a frightening trend。Galbraith has explored it in it's teeniest, scariest detail, as also the different personalities, dependant, dominant and manipulative, associated with such cults。On personal fronts, Strike and Ellacort are still hanging in there, and we come to know more about Pat's background。 Now I have to wait another year or more for the next installment。 :/ 。。。more

I devoured this book。 I absolutely love this series and this one may have been my favorite yet! JK Rowling is truly a genius with character development and intricate plot。 Reading about the cult gave me so many goosebumps and I really felt like I was trapped in there alongside Robin。 And that ending!!! Ugh。 My heart。 Also, the narrator for the audiobook is absolutely fantastic。 I actually prefer listening to physically reading because he is so good。

Nice installment in the series, with a pro-reality-oriented theme。 Good character development, as usual for Rowling/Galbraith, and a complex and disturbing villain。 I'm continually impressed by how happily I tear through the long Strike books (this one was 945 pages) Nice installment in the series, with a pro-reality-oriented theme。 Good character development, as usual for Rowling/Galbraith, and a complex and disturbing villain。 I'm continually impressed by how happily I tear through the long Strike books (this one was 945 pages) 。。。more

If I could have given this a 6/5 I would have。 I loved the last book and just thought it couldn’t get better。 But here it is。 I flew through this book ridiculously fast。 I mean, for a 950 page whooped, I don’t normally expect it to feel short but it did! It captured my attention from the very beginning。 Can’t wait for the next one。

I dislike JK Rowling as a person, but I just can't help liking her books they are well crafted。 Her IP is to my mind the property of the fans。 I won't pay her another cent though, as I'm not supporting her。 This book deserves 5 stars, the author does not。 I dislike JK Rowling as a person, but I just can't help liking her books they are well crafted。 Her IP is to my mind the property of the fans。 I won't pay her another cent though, as I'm not supporting her。 This book deserves 5 stars, the author does not。 。。。more

I've been invested in this series for a long time, and this is probably the best one yet! I couldn't put this one down。 All the others had some slow parts, but this one did not at all。 Fast pace all the way through。 Cormoran and Robin are hired to investigate a church/cult that has the son of their client and refuses them entrance to see their son。 The more the dynamic duo look into this church the more devastatingly cruel things they find。 Including, but not limited to murder。 Robin has her fir I've been invested in this series for a long time, and this is probably the best one yet! How could I ever give my favorite book couple anything other than 5 stars? I love this duo。 The book was long and unnecessarily so。 I’m still not sure I believe “whodunnit”, but it doesn’t really matter because Strike + Robin。

Honestly think it might just beat Troubled Blood for best in series。Incredible read

If you’re looking for this installment to move the series story arc forward, you’re in luck。 If you’re looking for it to do so efficiently, then you clearly have forgotten what you signed up for here。 I do sometimes worry about “Robert Galbraith” — she invents some truly messed up stuff

“So here stood Cormoran Strike, slimmer, fitter, clearer of lung, alone in his attic, poking broccoli angrily with a wooden spoon, thinking about not thinking about Robin Ellacott。”BLOODY HELL, hogy én mennyire imádom még mindig ezt a nőt, akár Robert Galbraith-ként ír, akár J。K。 Rowlingként! Imádtam olvasni a The Running Grave-et, ami már a hetedik kötete a Strike sorozatnak, és amire szerencsére most nem kellett sokat várnunk (csak egy év telt el az Ink Black Heart óta)。 A Running Grave tökéle “So here stood Cormoran Strike, slimmer, fitter, clearer of lung, alone in his attic, poking broccoli angrily with a wooden spoon, thinking about not thinking about Robin Ellacott。”BLOODY HELL, hogy én mennyire imádom még mindig ezt a nőt, akár Robert Galbraith-ként ír, akár J。K。 Rowlingként!

I have been completely consumed by this book since I started it。 OHMYGOSH!!! Excellent!! And infuriating for that cliffhanger, but so dang good!!

Long。 Drawn out。 Too many floating characters。 Too graphic。 I wish the author would stop torturing Robin and us。 Not sure I care about #8。

This is the best in the series so far。 Really well written, not all goes well all the time, coincidence never plays a part。 Complicated storylines, contrary characters, understandable decisions。 The storytelling is strong。

I love this audiobook reader。 At first I thought I wasn’t going to like this book so much because robin and strike were working separately to solve their case, but ended up loving the back and forth。 The cult church case had a lot of twists and turns and Scientologish references。 I was lucky that I hadn’t read the ink black heart yet so I got to listen back to back。 It was about 60 hours of audio and I would’ve happily gone another 60 hours。 Can’t wait for the next one。

Wow。 I got hooked。 I literally found excuses to listen to this over doing anything else in my life。 While listening, i forewent television, and every other form of entertainment to not have to stop。 I had to set timers on the book to ensure I ate, slept, and worked。 On the plus side because I listened - I multitasked by walking miles, my clothes are now organized, a puzzle is started, and I now feel sad it is over。 So, was it very long? Yes。 Did I mind it being so long? No。 I would not recommend Wow。 I got hooked。 I literally found excuses to listen to this over doing anything else in my life。 While listening, i forewent television, and every other form of entertainment to not have to stop。 I had to set timers on the book to ensure I ate, slept, and worked。 On the plus side because I listened - I multitasked by walking miles, my clothes are now organized, a puzzle is started, and I now feel sad it is over。 So, was it very long?
